Problem Solving

In elementary school, one of the many main things that we teach is how to "problem solve". Whether it be on a math problem, a science question, a higher thinking comprehension question on reading, in relationships (especially at recess), we try to teach the children to learn "how" to solve problems.

I heard recently about a corporation that had a unique part of their interview process...where a difficult math/physics question was asked which would require multiple steps to solve. The interviewer was not necessarily looking for someone who could give the exact answer, but for those who were willing to try, who were willing to put pencil to paper and attempt to solve the problem.

One of my many philosophies of life is that our lives are sprinkled with problems to be solved. Some are simple, some are complex.

What the Lord asks of us is that we be willing to try to solve the problems; that we ask for His Wisdom and His Guidance in both the simple and the complex. That we trust Him step by step as we "solve" the problems and mysteries laid before us.

Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

Missing

Following a great evening at an art reception last night, we were faced with the cold reality that our car had been stolen from its space in the parking lot.
After the inconvenience of calling the police, the insurance company, the credit card companies, and renting a car so we could drive the 180 miles home, hours later we were safely home.
As we were going to bed, we thought, bottom line...
"At least it's a missing car that we're looking for, not a missing person."
Perspective is so important.
(I'll let you know if and when they find our car.)
