Prayer Walks
I try to walk two miles most days, and although it's nice to walk with my husband or a friend, it's even more enjoyable for me to walk by myself. During that time, I do what a lot of people do...pray while I'm walking.
A friend of mine likes to walk on our local track She walks one lap praying for her husband, the next lap praying for her older son, then another lap for her second son, etc.
I prefer to walk around the streets to the west edge of our town where there's not much traffic or many people. From home to Centennial Village I pray for my husband, from Centennial Village to the library I pray for my younger daughter and her fiance, from the library to the school I pray for our older daughter and her husband, then from the school to our home and around I pray for various other needs~a friend's son who has stage 4 cancer, my brother-in-law dealing with ALS, another friend's son who is trying to get his life on track, the family of a 50+ year old wife, mother and grandmother who just died from injuries from a motorcycle accident, etc.
There are so many people and situations to pray and praise for, and I so need to keep up my exercise, that these two important parts of my life work well together.
And it was a great treat for me when I was talking with my younger daughter this past week, and she said, "I decided to be like you and Uncle B and Aunt I. Instead of just walking and jogging, I'm going for prayer walks...and this morning I walked over an hour doing just that."
There are some habits you don't mind passing on to your children.
